Take control of your Type 2 Diabetes with exercise that actually works.
Type 2 diabetes is one of the most manageable chronic conditions there is, and exercise is one of the most powerful tools available. At Core Health Group, our Accredited Exercise Physiologists work with you to build a program that improves your blood sugar control, reduces cardiovascular risk, and helps you feel genuinely better in your day-to-day life.
How Exercise Physiology helps with Type 2 Diabetes
Exercise has a direct effect on insulin sensitivity. It helps your cells respond to insulin more effectively, which means better blood glucose regulation. Both aerobic exercise and resistance training have strong evidence to support Type 2 diabetes management, and when they’re combined and prescribed correctly, the results can be significant.
We’re not talking about generic gym programs. We’re talking about exercise that’s specifically designed for your physiology, your current fitness level, and your goals.
Research consistently shows that structured exercise can lower HbA1c levels, reduce the need for medication, improve cardiovascular health, support healthy weight management, and lower the risk of diabetes-related complications.
What your program may involve
• An initial assessment covering your health history, current fitness, and goals
• A personalised mix of aerobic training (walking, cycling, rowing) and resistance work
• Guided sessions at our Grovedale gym, plus a home or independent program via our app
• Regular reviews to track progress and adjust your program as you improve
• Coordination with your GP or specialist where appropriate
Who this is for
This service is for anyone in Geelong living with Type 2 diabetes who wants to take a more
active role in managing their condition. Whether you’ve just been diagnosed, you’ve been
managing it for years, or you’re in the pre-diabetes range and want to prevent progression,
we can help. You don’t need to be fit, and you don’t need any gym experience.
A note on funding
Many people with Type 2 diabetes are eligible for Medicare-subsidised appointments through a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, which provides up to 5 rebated sessions per year. NDIS participants may also be eligible depending on their plan. DVA Gold and White Card holders are covered for exercise physiology. We can help you understand your options when you book.
